About CAPSI research Journals

The study of philanthropy in Africa and other continents outside of Euro-America is in a nascent stage. It has been described by many writers as emergent. Although there is now an increase in research and writings on philanthropy across the globe as well as in Africa and African philanthropy, in particular, there is however still little academic research and publications in this field.

The International Review of Philanthropy and Social Investment is predominantly dedicated to academic research and theory, with some sections dedicated to practice. It is a journal based in Africa but with a global remit responding to the growing demand for both academic and practice-related articles on the varieties and scales of philanthropy and social investment.

The Charles mott foundation

An automotive pioneer, philanthropist, and leader in the community, Charles Stewart Mott cared about innovation, fairness, and communities. By working toward a world where each individual’s quality of life is connected to the well-being of the community, both locally and globally, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation continues this legacy.

A founding funder of the Centre, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation supported the establishment of the Chair and continues to support our programmes.
